A strong Franco-American partnership is needed
US UN Ambassador / Middle East Peace Process - Remarks to the press by Mr. François Delattre, Permanent Representative of France to the United Nations - 23 November 2016
Q: Any reaction to the pending announcement that Nikki Haley, the Governor of South Carolina, will be the UN Ambassador?
It’s not up to me of course to comment on the nomination, pending her confirmation by the President-elect and the Senate. What I can tell you is that in my previous position as France’s Ambassador to Washington, I had the pleasure and opportunity to meet with Governor Haley. We had a very good contact. She is a highly regarded, very respected professional.
France and the United States must confront together the challenges we face, including here at the UN. More than ever we need an America that is committed to world affairs. It’s true also here at the UN, where a strong Franco-American partnership is needed, based on our common values and on our shared interest.
Q: Ambassador, what about the situation in Middle East and the French initiative regarding the peace process, is there any update?
Our determination is very strong on this.
