Syria: Improvement of the cessation of hostilities is a key priority
Syria - Remarks to the press by Mr. François Delattre, Permanent Representative of France to the United Nations – 14 March 2016
I believe that the world is holding its breath as negotiations just resumed in Geneva.
As far as France is concerned, we have, among many others, three key priorities:
1/ to improve the cessation of hostilities, and there are several ways to do it;
2/ to insure unhindered humanitarian aid and access to places in need;
3/ to make sure that the parties engage seriously and in good faith into the political negotiations and into what Staffan de Mistura rightly described as “the mother of all issues”, which is the political transition.
