Syria, chemical weapons: France will never give up
Syria - Remarks to the press by Mr. François Delattre, Permanent Representative of France to the United Nations (after the vote) - 28 February 2017
I will be very brief because I said everything during this session of the Security Council.
Of course we are disappointed, needless to say, especially one century after the chemical weapons were first used during WWI. What a regression if you think about it.
But we are even more determined than disappointed. Our resolve is actually stronger than ever. We can’t give up and we won’t.
We will roll up our sleeves and work relentlessly to bridge this inconceivable gap in the Security Council and in all other relevant organizations. We owe it to the victims of these barbaric acts. We also owe it to our core values and to our core interest. The fight against the use of weapons of mass destruction must be our common fight and France will never give up.
