Yemen: the top priority for us is to get a ceasefire

We are as you know preoccupied by the situation on the ground and the top priority for us is to get a ceasefire, a real ceasefire, and to get it fully implemented. Number one.
Number two, in this respect we reiterate our full support to the tireless and indispensable efforts by the Special Envoy, Ismaël Ould Cheikh Ahmed. We are very concerned, as many others, with the lack of will among the parties to engage in discussions on a political agreement. This is what is badly needed.
And finally, there’s no military solution in Yemen whatsoever, there is only a political solution. And our Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault was in Saudi Arabia earlier this week, on 23 and 24 January, he paid a visit there, and this is the message that he carried during his trip.
