France held the presidency of the United Nations Security Council during the month of September, a month marked by dense debates.

September also saw the high-level week of the United Nations General Assembly, which brought together Heads of State and Government, as well as numerous Ministers.

The Ukrainian crisis was at the heart of the concerns, particularly on the issues of justice and the fight against impunity.

A ministerial-level meeting of the Security Council was held on the subject of Ukraine on September 21, chaired by the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna.

"It is with the deepest concern that I address this Security Council meeting devoted to Ukraine, and more specifically, the crimes committed there."

34 meetings of the Security Council were held under our presidency, encouraging exchanges to support peace processes and highlighting priority issues for France such as :

  • Operation in Libya to combat the trafficking of migrants
